SB Order 25/2022: Post office account will be freeze when inoperative more than 3 years after maturity

SB Order 25/2022- All Post office account holders are now informed that when any post office account is inoperative for the last three years after maturity, it will be frozen by the post offices. 

A new SB order no. 25/2022 has been released on 16 December 2022 regarding the freezing of post office accounts get matured but have yet to be closed after 3 years of maturity.

Post Office Account freeze rule (SB Order 25/2022)

The Department of Post (India Post) issued a new SB order no 25/2022 to improve the post office CBS system and to provide safety for depositors hard earned money in post offices.

After implementing these orders, those accounts which have matured and completed three years since they matured, will be frozen.

What will I do when my post office account freezes?

If your post office account froze then you have to visit the post office branch along with the below-listed documents.
  • Account Passbook/Certificate
  • KYC Documents (Mobile number, PAN Card, and Aadhar Card or address proof as per rule 6 of Government Savings Promotion General rules-2018)
  • Account Closure form (SB-7A)
After submitting these documents, your matured amount will be created into your Post office Savings Bank account. No need to visit again at the post office.
