What is the CN-23 form?

Customs declaration form is used for international article booking. It is also called the CN-23 form.

Recently Postal Directorate has decided to introduced the new format for CN-23. Two copies of custom declaeation form (CN-23) will be attached with foregin article having value more then 300 SDR. Value of one SDR is equivalent to 97.7824 for the year 2020.

Directorate directed to ensure the new custom declaration form should be available in all the post offices.

Things to know about custom declaration form CN-23

Customer should attach this custome declaration and accompanying documents securly to the outside of the item, preferably in an adhesive transparent envelope.

If the custom declaration is not clearly visible on the outside, or if you prefer to enclose to inside the item, you must fix a lable to the outside indicating the presence of the custom declaration form.

To accelerate custom clearance, complete the declaration in english, french or in a langauge accepted in the destination country. If available, add importer or addressee telephone number, email address and sender telephone number.

To clear the item the customs in the destination country need to know exactly what the contents are. You must therefore you must complete the declaration fully ad legibly, otherwise delay and inconvenience may result for the addressee. A false or misleading declaration may lead to fine or seizure the item.

Your goods may be subject to restrictions, it is your responsibility to inquire into import and export regulations and to find out what documents

Commercial item means any good imported or exported in the course of a business transaction, whether or not they are not sold for money or exchanged.

Give a detailed discription of each article in the item, eg. "men's cotton shirts." General discription eg. "spare part", "sample" or "food product" are not permitted.

Give the qualtity of the article and the unit of measurment used.

Give the net weight of each article in Kg. Give the total weight of the items in Kg including packaging which corresponds to the weight used to calculate the postage.

Give the value of each article and the total. indicating the currency used.

The HF tariff number must be based on the harmonized commodity discription and coding system developed by the world custom organisation. "Country of origin" means the country where the goods originated.

Give the amount of postage paid to the post for the item. specify separatly wny other charge. e.g. insurance.

Tick the box or boxes specifying the catogary of item.

Provide details of the contents are subject to quarntine or other restrictions.

If your item is a accompained by a license or a certificate, tick the appropriate box or state the number. You should attach an invoice for all commerical item.

Your signature and the confirm your liability for the item.

Please provide clear instructions in case of non-delivery of consignment by ticking on appropriate box in the item.
