Clarification on physical presence of witnesses for deceased claim cases

Recently an SB order no. 31/2020 was issued by the Postal Directorate regarding the physical presence of witnesses at the time of acceptance of the deceased claim case. It is not possible for the physical presence of two witnesses in the post office at the time of the claim case. Due to this issue, many representations has been received in the Postal Directorate. Hence the Postal Directorate has been issued a clarification letter on this topic. 

What is clarification for the presence of witnesses for the deceased claim?

It has been decided by the Postal Directorate that the physical presence of witnesses is not required if a self-attested photocopy of ID/Address proof of witnesses containing signature of the witness concerned are produced along with other claim documents.
 
ID and Address proof of witnesses may be taken as prescribed in KYC master circular issued vide SB order 14/2012 and GSPR-2018.
